Jais 3 brings open Arabic AI models with speech and agent features MBZUAI’s Institute of Foundation Models and Inception42 released Jais 3 on 15 October 2026. It’s a family of six open Arabic language models, from 900 million to 375 billion parameters, plus Jais Speech, which turns spoken Arabic and its dialects into text. The performance claims come from the developers’ own evaluations, so independent tests will show how well they hold up.

WAM reported on 15 October that MBZUAI’s Institute of Foundation Models and Inception42 launched Jais 3, the newest release in the Jais family first launched in Abu Dhabi. Gulf News said the six open models range from 900 million to 375 billion parameters. Parameters are the internal settings a model learns; larger models are usually more capable and cost more to run. Gulf News reported that Jais Speech transcribes Modern Standard Arabic and dialects from 19 Arab countries. It also lets Jais 3 take spoken instructions in Arabic or English and act on them. Gulf News said the models share a 512,000-token context window, which the developers call the longest of any Arabic-native model. A context window is how much text a model can read at once. Gulf News reported that the models were tested on an audited set of 24 Arabic benchmarks. Jais Speech had the lowest average error rates of the models compared, including commercial services. Both results come from the developers’ own evaluations. WAM quoted Inception42’s Larry Murray saying Jais 3 makes Arabic AI more practical for business use. Gulf News noted it was built in collaboration with Cerebras Systems. PR Newswire carried the official release, and ITP.net and Konsulteer republished it. What it adds up to
If you work in Arabic, the useful part is speech. A model that handles dialects can turn a voice note or a meeting recording into text you can search and summarise. The accuracy figures come from the developers, so test it on your own material before you rely on it. If you try Jais 3, start with one short Arabic recording from your work, such as a colleague’s voice note. Check the transcript against what was actually said before you use it for anything that matters.
