The National reported that the Dubai Centre for Artificial Intelligence (DCAI) launched GenDubAI on 14 October with the Community Development Authority (CDA) and Dubai Future Foundation. Gulf News said the platform is for families with children aged 8 to 15 and is available in Arabic and English. Khaleej Times reported that it’s free, works on mobile and gives parents step-by-step guidance. Khaleej Times said one section covers six situations families may face. Two examples are a child discussing feelings or friendships with a chatbot instead of family, and AI answers that clash with a family’s values. The National said the content reflects UAE values and culture, aims to build children’s critical thinking and creativity, and teaches parents the basics of AI. Gulf News said it’s designed for parents and children to learn together, so parents who are new to AI can build their own knowledge along the way. Khaleej Times quoted DCAI’s Saeed Al Falasi saying it’s built around “family moments”, where AI comes up in everyday conversation. Arabian Business, Fast Company Middle East and CairoScene also covered the launch. What it adds up to
GenDubAI starts from situations a family will recognise, such as a child asking a chatbot about a friendship problem. It then gives parents a way to talk it through. Starting from a concrete situation is a fast way to build any AI habit, at home or at work. If you have children aged 8 to 15, pick one of the platform’s situations this week and work through it together. If you don’t, try the same at work: agree with a colleague on one situation where an AI answer needs a person to check it before it’s used.
