Student data means names, marks, attendance, support needs, photos and any work that could identify a student. None of it belongs in a personal ChatGPT account. To get help with feedback, describe the pattern instead of pasting the work. Use case: "many students confused weather with climate" is enough to request a short activity on the difference.
Checking Facts, Answers and Level
Read each version as the student who will receive it. Answer every question yourself, because ChatGPT can mark a wrong answer as correct. Check facts, dates and definitions against the textbook or curriculum document. Use case: before printing a history quiz, you confirm each date in the answer key.

Two options keep chats out of model training, as the Data Controls FAQ explains. You can switch off "Improve the model for everyone", or use a Temporary Chat, which is deleted after 30 days. Neither makes a personal account suitable for student data.

Universities can deploy ChatGPT Edu to students, academic staff, researchers and operations teams. OpenAI also has a plan for teachers, called Teachers. OpenAI's enterprise privacy page lists Edu and Teachers among the business products it does not train on by default.

Step 1: Read the policy and check your account.
School rules on AI and student data come first. Then check whether your account is personal or a school-approved plan. If the account is personal, read the Data Controls FAQ and decide whether chats may be used for training.
Step 2: Try one worksheet with no student details.
Ask for a supported version, a standard version and a challenge version with the same objective. Compare each with your original.
Step 3: Check it before a real class sees it.
Answer every question, check each fact against the textbook and read the supported version aloud. The teacher, not ChatGPT, is responsible for every page students receive.

Uploading an essay with a name on it.
Student work, class lists and support plans can identify a student. Fix: keep student data out of personal accounts, and follow school policy in approved ones.
Trusting the answer key.
